Illusions never turn to something real...
ou were wondering, the title is a line in the song I'm listening to right now. It seemed to fit, making it sort of artistic, more than just plain talk.
Well, I've been on a cruise for 8 days on the Carnival Legends. It was a big ship, at least in my eyes. Ten levels, with pools, lounges, a dance place, a pizzeria, the works. Enough to please the average Joe.
On the first day we left home with our luggage to go to the port in New York City. I can't say I would like living there, since it's so congested, and I'm not one for that kind of living.
After we got the luggage out of the car at the port and my dad went to park the car, we had to wait on a long line, which is something I don't like. I got sick on the line, since I had had some asthma attacks the day before, and I felt cold and on the verge of vomiting. Thankfully I was able to get some food and get my energy back.
After eating some of the pizza, I went out onto the top to watch as we left the port. After that, I wandered around and got back to my room for dinner. The food was good. I remember I got a beef and barley soup for a starter, a caesar salad, rack of lamb for the main course, and Part Salut cheese for dessert. Our waiter was an Indonesian fellow named Budi, pronounced like buddy. I guess that could give some comfort, knowing you always have a buddy. Also, while eating I noticed a girl at the next table, who looked like a friend of mine. She looked like one of those average girls with modest looks. She looked older than her age, and looked big boned, if you believe there is such thing as bigger bones.
After that I went to Showtime, which was a sort of Las Vegas show that went on every night. That night was an introduction of everyone and then comedy. They introduced this one English guy named Owen who had an English rock star father and a fashion person, I think, but they wouldn't say who. I think it will bother me for a long time.
I went to bed after that, but I couldn't get to sleep, so I wrote a short story I've been meaning to write. Sleep came afterwards, and I woke up the next day at like 7:30. I went to eat breakfast, then wandered around looking at everything, and I went to this thing for teens, where I played DDR.
On that day we had to be formal for dinner and the Captain's Cocktail Party before it. At the party people were dancing to swing music on a stage. We left after 30 or so minutes, and went to dinner. I'm pretty sure I had soup for a starter, maybe that Strawberry cream thing. I skipped the salad, and got a lobster tail for the main course. I noticed during dinner that the girl at the next table had a pretty big family. I skipped dessert, and then headed for a teen dance thing.
Once I looked inside the dance, I headed for the tables. I didn't think I could dance without being laughed at, so I sit it out. While doing so, I started talking to this kid, and we became friends. His name is Zach, and he lives in Waverly, NY, or something like that. His parents are divorced, and he lives with his mom in an apartment, but they're moving into a house pretty soon. He's in Advanced Math, but it seems he's not as strong in other subjects.
After the dance, we went up to the top to play shuffleboard. Neither of us got any points. After it, we went to Showtime, and I looked for my parents there. I found them, and after the show I headed to the room for some sleep.
The next day I went to the thing for teens, and played some more DDR. I met Zach there, and it seems he has the game at home, so he was better than all the other people there.
I don't remember the afternoon too much, since I probably just wandered around. Dinner was another soup for starter, probably. I skipped the salad, I think, and got some beef/steak thing again. I think it was a sliced beef tenderloin or something. During the dinner there was a moment where all the waiters stopped what they were doing, put on silly hats, wigs, and such, and started dancing. It was fun to watch them do it. I got Imported Swiss cheese for dessert, then headed for the dance again.
This time I actually danced, although I bet it looked really bad. Zach wasn't dancing that well, either, so I guess it's ok. After it, we headed to the shuffleboard thing. After we were done, we headed to Showtime, but it was already over, so I just went with him to talk and do other things. Then we called it a night and went to sleep.
The next day the ship arrived at San Juan, the first stop of the cruise. My mom, dad, sister, and I went shopping around, and I bought these ocarinas and a panama hat. My mom bought this jewelry junk. I never understood why some people are attracted to jewelry, unless it's something cool like an emerald or a huge diamond thing.
There were a lot of cats in San Juan, and I saw like a family of cats under a rock, and some others strolling around the streets. There were these petitions to Save-the-Gato, and I signed it. I hope signing it did something for those cats.
On the way back there was a thunderstorm, and we were stuck outside. My sister is afraid of thunderstorms from watching the weather channel too much or something, and she started crying, so I made her feel better by doing some stuff.
Once we got back to the ship I took a shower and got into new clothes, since I was soaking wet from the rain. Then I stuck around the room, watching music videos. As I told you, I don't remember these afternoons.
Eventually dinner time came. I had a lobster bisque, I think, although my mom was worried, since it was made with rum or something. Then I had a salad, followed by another steak thing, I don't remember exactly what it was, though. The waiters did the dance thing again, but the girl at the other table didn't seem to enjoy it. I got a Gouda cheese for dessert.
I went to the dance afterwards, as usual. I actually danced in it, although I was dancing awkwardly. Some girls wanted to dance, but they were pretty quick to ignore Zach and I. We may have went to shuffleboard, although I forget. I went to Showtime later, then went to sleep.
The next day were were in St. Thomas, a US Virgin Island. We went to another island, St. John I think, on another boat to get to a beach. There I went snorkeling, and it was very fun. I think snorkeling will be a new hobby of mine, except I probably won't be doing it much.
On the way back I fell asleep, and when we got off the boat, I didn't feel like wearing my shoes. I don't think my feet appreciated it. They got burned and blistered, and it hurt to walk, even when I put my shoes on.
I got back to the cabin, showered, and went shopping for stuff. I bought gum and sunglasses, since my other pair of sunglasses broke. Then I headed back to the cabin to watch music videos.
Dinner came. I forgot the starter I had, but I bet it was some soup thing. I had the salad that was there, and the main course was most likely beef stuff again. I think it was beef wellington. The waiters did the dance again, and then I had the Brie cheese, or maybe I didn't have dessert. I'm not sure.
As you probably could have guessed, next I went to the dance. By then I started to get into dancing, and in the middle of it I started to have fun with it. Near the end some older girls wanted me to dance with them, but it was like only for a minute, and they probably do it to everyone. I actually was sad when the dance ended, since I was still worked up. I don't remember any shuffleboard that day, but I think I also skipped Showtime, since I met my mom halfway and she said it wasn't anything good. I talked to Zach instead, and went to a thing for teens at midnight, where I played video games and such. After it I left to go to sleep.
The next day were were in Tortola, a British Virgin Island. I went on a tour with the family, and we got to snorkel, so I had a good time. When we got back I showered, and then wandered around looking at lounges. I found Zach while doing so, and we hung out. Actually, I don't remember it, since it was the afternoon, but I'm pretty sure that's what happened.
Dinner was after that. I had udon noodles for starter, I think. I got a salad, and then had some beef thing. I might have had the beef wellington on that day instead. For dessert I probably had the Brie cheese instead of the night before. My memory isn't really working too good right now. I remember that when I had the cheese I also had this Chestnut Napolean thing, which was like chocolate mousse with a flakey crust.
Well, I don't feel like finishing this at the moment, so you'll have to wait till I give you part II of my confessions. Peace *out*
